Questions to Ask Before Hiring App Developers
Good developer interviews are less about clever technical trivia and more about delivery clarity. The best questions reveal how a team handles scope, risk, and ownership under pressure.
1) Scope and assumptions
Ask exactly what is included in v1 and what is out of scope. Require assumptions in writing. Ambiguity at this stage becomes conflict during implementation.
2) Delivery process
Ask how progress is reported and how often you see testable output. Weekly demos and repo visibility are better indicators than status emails.
3) Quality and testing strategy
Ask where tests are used, how bugs are triaged, and how regressions are prevented. A mature answer is context-based, not 'we test everything'.
4) Launch and rollback readiness
Ask about deployment controls, monitoring, and rollback steps. Teams with no release discipline can ship features but still fail users.
5) Handoff and ownership
Ask what documentation you receive and how long support continues after launch. You are hiring for long-term ownership, not a one-time code drop.
